Your law firm’s website is more than a digital business card. It’s your first impression with potential clients, your most important marketing tool, and (when designed correctly) one of your firm’s most valuable assets.

At Intellistart Law Firm Marketing, we design and optimise websites so that they are:

  • fast,
  • compliant with rules and regulations, and
  • built with SEO and GEO foundations from the ground up.

This ensures your firm isn’t just found in Google search, but also in AI-powered results like Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, and Perplexity, where more and more people are turning for answers.

Q&A

What is GEO?

GEO is the practice of adapting your law firm website so that generative AI tools, like Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, and Perplexity, can use your content as a cited source when generating answers.

Together, SEO and GEO ensure your law firm becomes visible in both Google rankings and in the new frontier of AI-powered search.

Why Legal Web Design with SEO and GEO Built-In Is Different

Whether a client finds you online or through a recommendation, they almost always check your website before deciding to contact you. That first impression matters.

Unfortunately, many law firm websites are:

  • Slow and unresponsive
  • Outdated in design, code, or branding
  • Built without SEO (or with techniques) that no longer work
  • Invisible in new AI-powered search

A website without SEO and GEO is like a shop with no door: clients simply can’t find you or walk in.

Our designs solve this. We combine compliance-aware copy, SEO and GEO integration, and conversion rate optimisation (CRO) to build websites that not only look professional but also deliver measurable enquiries.

What Makes Our Legal Websites Different

We don’t just build pretty websites — we build websites that rank, convert, and help you stay compliant with the SRA.

SEO & GEO Foundations Built-In

Every site is optimised from day one: technical SEO, schema, structured headings, and content designed to be cited in AI-driven search results.

Fast, Mobile-First Performance

We optimise websites to load in under 2 seconds, meeting Google’s Core Web Vitals. Speed, responsiveness, and accessibility improve both rankings and client experience.

Compliance-Friendly Design

We are familiar with SRA rules, accessibility standards, and the importance of client trust. Your site will be professional, transparent, and designed to keep you compliant.

Conversion-Optimised

From clear calls-to-action to enquiry forms and chatbots, our optimisations guide potential clients toward contacting your firm — not just browsing.

How SEO and GEO Work in Our Web Design

SEO and GEO aren’t add-ons. They’re the foundation of everything we build.

As standard, our websites include:

  • Meta data, title tags, and structured headings
  • Schema markup for services, locations, and FAQs
  • Optimised internal linking structure
  • Image optimisation (next-gen formats, alt text)
  • XML sitemaps and crawl-friendly navigation
  • Checks to ensure AI bots can crawl your website, so you appear in generative AI search

This ensures your website doesn’t just look professional; it performs behind the scenes to climb Google rankings and appear in AI-generated results.

FAQs

Why do you sometimes recommend a website redesign before SEO and GEO?

In some cases, law firms approach us looking for SEO services, but our initial audit shows that their existing website isn’t built on a suitable technical foundation. This is often because the site uses an outdated platform, a locked or limited theme, or legacy code that restricts how search engines and AI crawlers can access, interpret, and rank the content.

In these situations, investing in SEO alone is unlikely to deliver a strong return. High-quality copy cannot perform effectively if search engines can’t crawl the site properly or if the website fails to meet Google’s Core Web Vitals and technical requirements. Sometimes, continuing to invest in an older platform also isn’t financially sensible compared to rebuilding on a modern, flexible system.

We’re always honest with our clients about this. More often than not, we see newly designed websites, particularly those built by us with SEO and GEO foundations in place, outperform older sites where SEO has simply been added on top. A redesign allows us to create the solid technical, structural, and conversion-focused foundation needed for SEO and GEO to work as intended and deliver measurable results.

There are cheaper web designers and SEOs out there. What makes Intellistart worth the higher investment?

Cheaper web design often costs more in the long run. Many budget sites look fine on the surface, but lack the technical foundations and conversion strategy needed to generate enquiries — meaning you end up paying again to fix or replace them.

Our websites are built for law firms to rank and convert from day one. That means:

  • SEO and Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) foundations are in place from launch, so you start attracting organic traffic immediately.

  • PPC-ready structure improves your ad Quality Score, lowering your cost-per-click and increasing ROI.

  • Conversion-focused layouts turn more visitors into paying clients.

  • SRA compliance is included, so you avoid regulatory headaches.

  • Full tracking setup means you can measure exactly what’s working.

Clients who have their websites designed by us typically see much higher returns on PPC campaigns — often £5 or more in revenue for every £1 spent. That’s not something most low-cost designers can deliver, because they focus on appearance, not performance.

In short, we don’t just build you a website. We build you a business asset that consistently generates work and pays for itself many times over.

What makes your websites better for PPC?

We design all websites with PPC in mind — fast load speeds, strong CTAs, and tracking integrations all help increase conversions and lower cost-per-acquisition.

Do I need to use PPC and SEO together?

You don’t have to, but they work best as a team. PPC drives instant traffic, while SEO builds long-term visibility, often lowering your cost per click.

Case Studies and Results You Can Expect

On average, law firms we work with that also use our PPC service see at least a £5 return for every £1 invested in advertising.

That ROI is consistently higher when campaigns run on websites we’ve designed — because they’re faster, optimised, and built to convert enquiries into paying clients.

Results vary depending on whether our full recommendations are followed, but we’ve achieved exceptional growth across firms in areas including commercial law, divorce and financial matters, probate, and more.

Our Process

We keep the process simple and transparent:

  1. Audit & Planning – We review your current website, SEO, and whether AI bots can crawl it.
  2. Design & Build – Create a bespoke, mobile-responsive site tailored to your practice areas with built-in SEO and GEO.
  3. Launch & Test – Ensure full tracking, speed, and performance optimisation.
  4. Optional PPC Campaigns – Scale enquiries through targeted Google Ads campaigns once your site is live.

FAQs continued

Do I need a new website if I already have one?

It depends. If your current site isn’t generating work, doesn’t reflect your brand, isn’t properly optimised for search and AI, or lacks the foundations for effective optimisations, a redesign could unlock new enquiries (and help with recruitment). A website is also an asset that increases your firm’s overall value.

If you already have a steady stream of work and don’t rely on your website for clients or recruitment, you may not need to invest in a redesign right now.

You may wish to start blogging instead – something we can also help you with.

What makes legal web design different from generic web design?

Generic designers can create attractive websites, but they don’t understand the legal sector, its compliance rules, or its clients.

Specialist legal web design, on the other hand, is built around tested CTAs, proven conversion strategies, accessibility standards, and the compliance framework solicitors must follow. This saves you wasted budget and gives you a site designed specifically to attract and convert legal clients.

How long does it take to build a law firm website?

Depending on size and complexity, a new website can take anywhere from 2–4 weeks to 3–6 months. The timeline depends on:

  • Number of pages
  • Whether content is new or migrated
  • Speed of communication between your firm and our team
Can you migrate my existing content without losing SEO rankings?

Yes. We are experts in redesigns and always protect (and often improve) rankings.

At the end of the project, all appropriate redirects are put in place to maintain SEO equity.

Do you tie me into long contracts?

No. All our services are rolling, with no long-term contracts. For websites, we simply ask for a deposit before starting.

If you aren’t satisfied during the process, you are not required to pay the remaining balance.
